It...It's a gorgeous piece but not a cookie jar. It is a 19th century tobacco jar that should have a numerical mark of 481 on its base. It is shown in Horowitz's book, "Figural Humidors Mostly Victorian" on page 107. It is not clear in the book as to the maker, but it appears to be a Johann Maresch piece.
